Namibia’s best discount travel card

Everybody loves a discount, even more so when travelling. In Namibia the Gondwana group offers massive discounts to Namibians and citizens of the SADC region with their Gondwana card. The card is available from their office in Windhoek and can immediately be used to save on accommodation from their collection of lodges and currently vehicle rentals from Namibia2Go. Gondwana operates some of the finest lodges scattered across the best locations in the country.

How to get the card

Getting the card is quite simple. Visit their office in Klein Windhoek, not the one indicated on their website or Google maps. Cards are issued at their office in the Urban Dynamics complex (link to the updated location). Complete a short form. Pay N$300 and you receive your card on the spot. Their website does allow you to apply online, but after two failed attempts I gave up.

The benefits and cost

As mentioned, the cost of the card is N$300 per adult and N$150.00 for children aged 6-13 years and is valid for 5 years. The benefits are listed above. But most significantly Namibians enjoy a 50% discount on accommodation and currently a 50% discount on vehicle rental from Namibia2Go. For full terms and conditions see the Gondwana website.

Why should I get the card?

I am not sure if anyone needs convincing to save money, but here goes:

1. You’ll be saving massive amounts of money when visiting some of the best lodges and accommodation Namibia has to offer. 50% off no questions asked.

2. This is the only loyalty card in Namibia that offers 50% off on camping.

3. Currently you can save a gigantic 50% off car rental from Namibia2Go. I sure hope they keep this going for locals after the borders open again.

4. You’ll save 25% on meals and activities.

If you are worried about paying N$300 for the card. You’ll save that on the first night of your first booking. So go get the card and get travelling. See and enjoy what Namibia and Gondwana has to offer.
